Technical Experience
The Ropeless Manufacturer's Workgroup (RMW) is a collaborative effort among nine leaders in the "on-demand" fishing gear industry, dedicated to formalizing the development of industry standards and sharing to support on-demand fishing. Although the RMW was initially established informally in 2018, the group received essential financial support through two Marine Mammal Commission grants in 2021 and 2022, enabling them to solidify their collective efforts.

One Standard to Include All
The rmwHUB has conducted thorough testing and validation of our proposed gear marking standard. During this process, we have also examined various existing methods of gear marking, and we firmly believe that all of them should be incorporated into the standard. Choosing an unproven standard would inevitably lead to increased costs for all stakeholders and could potentially undermine reliability and efficiency. Our conviction lies in the fact that our approach is the most effective across all gear marking methods, including those used in the past, present, and future.
